I have new software called ProShow Producer. It takes still photos and turns them into videos with lots of cool effects. I'm working on a new show for Valley Presbyterian Church, but in my spare time I'm having fun learning new techniques. Here is one example:
Hope you enjoy watching as much as I did making it.
Family, travels, desert living, issues of faith, and other curiosities that cross my path.

My favorite cactus in the backyard bloomed again this week. This bloom is open when we get up at 5:30 a.m. By noon it is finished.
We've had several good rains in the past week. Here is an approaching thunderhead. This storm was 15-20 miles away. The clouds overhead were produing a drizzle--and out to the west the sun was about to set and able to shine under the layer of clouds. Voila! A rainbow.
This is a shot from the following day. Overhead were swirling black clouds, but off to the east was this brief blue-sky opening with a growing thunderhead illimunated, again by a low sun in the west.

Arizona Sonora Desert Museum
We went to the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum today. We've been going nearly every month since Christi visited in February. It is fun to see how the desert changes through the seasons. With the monsoon rains here, this is the season for green. The ocotillo, the mesquite, the brittle bush, the creosote, everything looks full (not quite like Michigan maples, but come on, it's the desert). Anyway, we had a great walk outdoors at 97 degrees.
There is a humming bird here, just to the left of Jenni's hat. I have several good shots of hummingbirds sitting still on branches, but I wasted 40 shots trying to get one in flight. They would hover around people's heads, but by the time my camera clicked-goodbye.
Jenni was getting a lesson from a docent on the internal structure of saguaro cacti. I just liked the patterns the roof slats made.
Here are two javelinas off to enjoy a picnic, or something. Surprisingly the animals were quite active today. I got a couple a cool shots of horned lizards, but I have to do some work in PhotoShop before I post them here. The blend in so well with their surrounding rocks.

Aidan at Crystal Lake
Our grandson, Aidan, celebrated his first birthday at the cottage on Crystal Lake in June. We had a fantastic time. He was always the center of attention. What impressed me most was how utterly fearless he is.
I produced my favorite photos of the week into a video. Hope you enjoy it.
